ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT LEVELING CASTERS US Patent 6,637,071

The adjustable height leveling caster allows the height of equipment to be adjusted on the caster in addition to the leveler.  This is particularly useful in applications where one piece of equipment must dock to another.  Standard models have 1.00+ in. (25+ mm) of adjustability at the recommended insertion length (the length of thread engagement).  Levelers for this caster are sold separately.

Docking Instructions
  1. raise the equipment one turn at a time by engaging the external hex on the stem of the caster.
  2. once docked, spool down the leveler until it makes firm contact with the floor.
  3. while holding the leveler with a wrench, spool the caster upwards until it is fully retracted.

NOTES & WARNINGS
  • WARNING: These casters should ONLY be extended for the final docking of the machine.
  • WARNING: Do not ship, crate, or transport the machine with the casters extended.
  • target docking height should be approximately 1/2 the adjustable height.
  • caster is designed to be be adjusted from overhead but can also be adjusted from the side with a special nut and wrench.  See Mounting Options for an installation overview.
  • pitch matching between the leveler stud and the caster stem ensures that the equipment stays at the same height during step 3 above
  • hole should have class 2 threads and be chamfered .08 X 45 to clearance the base of the stem.
  • lubricate mounting hole with a suitable grease.   Christo-Lube MCG-132 from Lubrication Technology (www.lubricationtechnology.com) is recommended for cleanroom applications.
